March 9th - March 13th
A Note to Families
Thank you for all of your support as we navigate this difficult time. I will be checking my email and ClassDojo messages regularly so please feel free to contact me with any questions. I also plan to post extra activities a few times a week on ClassDojo that are optional and students can complete at any time. It would be a fun way to keep connected! Please know that I will be thinking about each student every single day and will miss them dearly. Let your child know that they can also send me a message if they have questions or just want to tell me about what they are doing during their time out of school. Below is a list of possible activities your child can do at home to continue learning. Thank you!

Suggested Activities
Online Activities
Below is a list of online activities that students can do to continue their learning at home. We use the websites regularly in class so students are familiar with them. They may need their google username and password. The username is their Chromebook username followed by @live.byron.k12.mi.us. The password is their Chromebook password. If your child needs any help remembering any username/passwords please send me an email or message on ClassDojo and I can look up the information.
Epic - A digital library with thousands of books including audio books and "Read To Me" books. (Class Code is LKA 8014)
Freckle - We just started using this site last week. Students can read short stories and answer questions. They can also practice math fact fluency. Students log in with their Google account.
Typing Club - Students can work on typing fluency
ZEARN - This is our main math website that we use in class. Students can continue their math lessons on area and perimeter. If they complete all of the lessons in the Area Unit, they can continue to the next unit to get a head start on understanding fractions.

Prodigy - Students battle others by solving math problems

Suggested Activities
- One of the most beneficial activity your child can do during this time is continue to read and write at home as much as possible. Your child can practice literacy in many different ways.
- Read to your child.
- Have your child read to you.
- Give your child time to read independently and then tell you about the book.
- Listen to audiobooks.
- Read recipes together while cooking.
- Read and perform poetry.
- Change it up by reading in a new location (the backyard might be a great spot as the weather improves!)
- Keep a journal.
- Write letters to friends and family.
- Continue to have your child follow the "March is Reading Month" calendar of activities. Stamps will still be awarded when we return to school.
